Tiffen 6 x 6" Pro-Mist 1/2 Filter

Many techniques have been developed for diffusing or softening images, whether to create a mood in a landscape or portrait or simply as an aid to make people look glamorous. The Pro-Mist filter is a popular motion picture effect that creates a special "atmosphere" by softening excess sharpness and contrast. It generates a pearlescent halo around highlights. Lighter grades are useful in toning down the excessive sharpness and contrast of contemporary film and lens combinations. The Black Pro-Mist offers all the benefits of the Pro-Mist filter in a more subtle form. Highlight flares are controlled. Contrast is lowered, but with less lightening of shadows for a more delicate effect. When used on Video and HD Cameras, the Black ProMist tones down excessive sharpness to create the "film look".
