It folds to 4 inches, and when unfolded, the legs are able to spread up to 7 inches. Other than using it as a tripod, because of its small size, it is perfect for use as a handy grip or for smaller cameras when it is folded up. The all-metal ball head allows for a full 360 degrees range of motion, and it can tilt up to 180 degrees. The 1/4 x 20 thread allows compatibility with most cameras. If you wanted to use a smartphone holder (not included) to use this tripod with your smartphone, that is also possible.Â
